Christmas 2011
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the
government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful
Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6
Greetings to our family and friends:
As we enter another Advent season time we pray that you are joining
with us in preparing for celebrating His birth and its meaning for
us all. We hope that
these greetings reach you in good health.
Our activities this year have been short but fulfilling.
Dad celebrated his 98th Birthday with a rendition
of Happy Birthday from our 100+ voice Chancel Choir.
Otto’s health has improved somewhat and our big news is in
the future.
The whole Henn Family, Dad, Ralph, Carol and Werner, will be traveling to Heidelberg, Germany to celebrate Christmas with Dad’s brother, Ernst. Dad is looking forward to attending church at Christuskirche where he grew up, was confirmed and taught Sunday School. We will also be attending a Silvester (New Years Eve) Concert in the Stadthalle. We will try to update the FamilyHenn.com Blog with a log and pictures of our trip while we are there.
In March, Carol and I traveled to Tucson to visit Mark, Thomasina,
Zachary, Lauren and Aiden.
Mark was recovering from back surgery so we did not do
anything real strenuous.
We went to Mesa and visited with Carol’s brother, Tim, and family.
We also enjoyed a visit with Carol’s cousin, Dale and his wife
Charlotte, in Green Valley.
Carol’s sister, Mary, and Duane spent a few days with us and their son Jon. Carol was convinced to pay a visit to Mary in Wasilla, Alaska in May to watch the marriage of Prince William and Catherine. They started a tradition many years ago of watching Royal weddings together. We also had a fun visit from Werner’s cousin Roy and Shirley from Arizona/Colorado
In June we traveled to Marietta Georgia for Brian and Jennifer’s
wedding. We welcome
Jennifer and Grant to the Henn Family.
Alyssa, Tyler and Grant took part in the ceremony followed by
a sumptuous Brunch and a pool party.
It was a fun event with Mark and Thomasina in attendance,
also.
In August we traveled to Montana to visit Carol’s brother, David and
Connie. It was a fun
time visiting with Carol’s relatives, especially her aunt Adeline
and Arnold, as well as the whole Hundtofte clan.
We experienced an old-fashioned county fair and a trip to
Medora, ND where we enjoyed the Teddy Roosevelt variety show.
In October we again enjoyed a visit from Werner’s cousin, George and
Li from Beijing, China.
We continue to enjoy singing in the Chancel Choir and the smaller
Ensemble. In May we
presented Mendelssohn’s Elijah.
You can hear and see audio and video clips of our Chancel
Choir and Ensemble music from the Our Church in the menu at
the top of the page.
Carol continues to play the piano for our enjoyment.
Werner is still supporting his soccer software enterprise
(but staying off of golf carts).
Carol will experience shoulder surgery after the first of the
year to repair a couple of torn tendons.
We wish you all a Christmas of Joy as we celebrate Christ’s birth
and a New Year filled with Happiness and Blessings.
